People who require assistance—whether because of a disability, a mental illness, or a health condition—can live together in a supportive setting in a group home, also known as a shared home or shared lodging.
Unlike an institutionalised approach to care, group homes are intended to give small groups of people a cosy and friendly home setting (usually around two to five residents). People can receive the assistance they require while remaining a part of the neighbourhood and taking advantage of the advantages of shared living.
